8th Pay Commission May Raise Basic Salary From Rs 18,000 to Rs 68,940, Big Relief for Central Employees (OpenAi)

New Delhi: Discussions have intensified between central employees and pensioners regarding the 8th Pay Commission. Various suggestions are being given to the commission by various employee organizations regarding fitment factor and minimum wage. On the basis of these proposals, it is being estimated that the current minimum basic salary of Rs 18,000 may increase from Rs 51,000 to approximately Rs 68,940. However, no final recommendation has been issued yet by the government or the Pay Commission.

Does the entire mathematics rest on the fitment factor?

Fitment factor plays the most important role in deciding the salary of employees in the Pay Commission. This is the coefficient on the basis of which the existing basic pay is revised. Employee organizations have demanded fitment factor ranging from 2.86 to 3.8. If a higher level of fitment factor is accepted, a significant increase in salary may be seen.

Can the basic salary of Rs 18,000 increase manifold?

At present the minimum basic pay under the 7th Pay Commission is Rs 18,000. According to the proposals made by various employee organizations, this amount could be Rs 51,480, Rs 55,000, Rs 65,000 or even more. In some demands, it has also been suggested to take the minimum wage to Rs 66,240. However, all these figures are proposed and the final decision will be taken only after the recommendations of the commission and the approval of the central government.

Can employees also get the benefit of arrears?

In case of implementation of wage revision, employees can also get the benefit of arrears. According to various reports, the higher the fitment factor, the more the amount of revised salary and arrears will increase. For this reason, employee organizations are demanding a more favorable fitment factor before the Commission.

Have any figures been confirmed yet?

At present, there has been no official announcement regarding Rs 68,940 or any other amount. Suggestions are being given before the Pay Commission by employee organizations and pensioner associations. Only after the final recommendations come and the approval of the central government is given will it be clear by how much the minimum basic salary of the central employees will increase.

Who are the employees eyeing now?

The eyes of central employees and pensioners are now fixed on the recommendations of the 8th Pay Commission. If a large part of the demands of employee organizations are accepted, then a significant increase in salaries, allowances and pensions may be seen. At present, all the figures are based on estimates and demands, so the final decision is awaited.
